About Sugarbush Farm Cheese
In the early fall mornings, the meadows of Sugarbush Farm
swirl with ethereal mists. The air is fresh and slightly damp
with only the sound of several rude crows interrupting
the serenity. In spring and summer, the lush green pastures
are a delight to a herd of Jersey cows and visitors.
Lovers of Vermont Cheddar know that Sugarbush Farm is
one of the few places in the state where you can get
the real thing.
Owner Bestsy and Larry Luces are part of a family that
has been smoking and aging cheese in Vermont for 50
years. Cheese, literally tons of it, is smoked and aged
at Sugarbush Farm every year, and packaged by hand.
Sugarbush Farm was the first Vermont cheese maker to
start the practice of dipping brickets of cheese in a
special microcystalline cheese coating wax. The bars
actually get three coatings of this wax. Along with a
foil wrapper, this keeps the cheese fresh for a long
time, even after it is opened.
For a little extra we'll package two Green Mountain Jack Vermont cheeses in a
decorative gold tin with custom ribbon and tag. The front of the tag
says, "Made in Vermont. Especially For You". Inside the tag we'll
write your gift message. Why? Over the
years we have found that our customers are, most of the time,
giving the cheese they order as a gift, therefore a decorative
tin just makes sense.
