Rectangular End Grain Board
As a tree grows it develops "heartwood" and "sapwood".
The sapwood is the outside of the tree, and in almost all species, very light in color while the heartwood is much darker
as it is the interior of the tree. For market purposes the heartwood is the wood which defines the look of that species.
The sapwood having little color and figuring is, sadly, often discarded. We have found that there's a wonderful contrast
between heart and sap woods which can give rise to beautiful effects. Therefore, we have sought out specially sawn
planks of American Black Walnut with both heart and sap wood with which to make
this striking and super functional carving and work board.
All end grain construction with deep juice grooves and a
jumbo catch well. Large Board measures
21" x 15” x 1-1/2" thick. Medium Board measures
18" x 12" x 1-1/2" thick. Don't forget to use both sides
of this great board. To care for this board, washing in warm
soapy water, thoroughly drying, and an occasional rub of corn
oil will give generations of service. The use of a nylon net
scouring pad or a sponge with an abrasive face is encouraged.
